I've been impressed with the ability Rima has shown CF in baseball and as a wideout.
The sky is the limit for Jalen. Athletically he is very gifted. Once he really figures out his positions he will be tough to stop. He is a four sport kid with football, basketball, baseball and track. Extremely talented.
For the record, Coach Morrissey is free to ask anything he wishes.
If that's the case I guess I'm still wondering why I sat at a restaurant in Fairfax waiting for KJ to show up for the breakfast I owed him on a lost bet. Would love to get the answer to that question!
Coach, what would you say the biggest improvement is in Linn-Mar's defense since last year?
Coach, I may be wrong, but seemed like Prairie went to more of a run attack in Week 2 over a wide open offense you have been known for, is that just a weekly adjustment or a change to suit the talent on this year's team?
Hopefully he gets to say that a few more times this fall for both UNI and Jalen!
I think the switch to the stack has really helped Linn-Mar. They play fast and down hill. It fits their kids well.
Who you got?
Dowling vs. Waukee?
EVERYONE...Who you got?
Ankeny vs. Ankeny Centennial?
I've got Dowling, and I'll say Ankeny High.
KJ we try to adjust to what our kids do well. We really try to take what the defense gives us and this last week it was an advantage with numbers in the box. Had to try to take those match ups when we got them
Andy, TR on a roll so far! Great to hear from you. Give everyone back in Dolton my best!
I'm going to go MAJOR HOMER on this week's upset pick. I'm going with C.R. Kennedy over North Scott.
Xavier, but it'll be closer than most expect.
I'm with Jeremiah on that one. Though I have a friend's son who plays for Waukee. Sorry, Roger. And I think Xavier beats Solon as well. That's our game LIVE on KCRG-9.2 Friday night, by the way (Cheap plug)
I like Xavier. Solon QB keeps overthrowing out patterns because the receiver will 10 feet below him.
That's a really tough one to call. Both will be prepared well for the game. I think it will be a very close one.
I'm having nightmare flashbacks of that right now KJ
KJ, you've got me giggling now.
Any more questions for (or from) our reporters or Coach Morrissey tonight?
Coach, what accomplishment are you most proud of since your arrival at Prairie?
I think you might have brought up something about your dad, or someone else did, but do you still call on him to seek coaching advice?
Central City. But, boy, they need to find some offense.
8man, I think Central City had better concentrate on scoring before trying for a victory. That said, I like Central City to win.
That's a tough question. I think overall the 2012 season was really special. Seeing our kids go on to play college football at various different levels is always something we are very proud of. Just being able to be a part of our community and seeing the interest level in football go up has been great.
8Man, CC, but it wouldn't surprise me if CVC wins, because the Wildcats have struggled
I'll go against the grain and say CVC goes to 2-1.
I talk to my dad about football all the time. He is still the best football coach I have ever known. Being able to have him as a mentor and someone to bounce ideas off of has really been great.
I think the approach is still the same for the most part. The only difference I can see is if a young man is a little banged up, you might hesitate to play him with the district schedule coming up.
On a lighter note, how did a wrestling coach like Blake Williams beat you in a 3-point contest, Coach Morrissey?
Most coaches are in it because they are very competitive. So I believe the mindset is still the same as far as wanting to win every game.
He didn't beat me! He beat Coach Moses and Coach Doser. Coach Williams can flat out shoot!
One more question for Coach. My neighbor's boy plays sophomores for Kennedy and gets game video and coach's comments on it sent to his phone a day after games. Do you guys do that as well?
