Their strengths are that they are very disciplined with what they run. They do a lot of things formation wise offensively and play fast. Defensively they don't do anything crazy but that also means they can react instead of thinking out there. Good size and well coached for sure.
Forgot to mention this during the podcast today. Kevin White of the Omaha World-Herald mentioned this stat: It has been 346 games (a streak that started in 1974) since Harlan has lost back-to-back regular-season games. That's crazy.
I would love to get PV on our schedule. We tried it for this year and didn't happen but hopefully some time soon we can get it worked out. Would be a lot of fun going back home to play at Spartan Stadium.
I know Lindy likes Cascade bouncing back. I, though, think Marion will win. I think Marion is going to be better than we anticipated. They played Washington tough. Beat Mt. Vernon. Not like Cascasde got blown out by Regina either. They will be a tough out.
Elkader has started off very strong, 8man. Springville is going to have to play much better than they did last week to bounce back.
I think Elkader Central is really good. That's shaping up as a tough district (Central, Turkey Valley, Kee and Springville).
After two games who does everyone see as the power teams on this side of the state?
Elkader has been very explosive in its 8-man debut. Good question. I think it will be a good measuring stick for both. Not sure you can put a lot into the lopsided loss to Don Bosco.
Hey, hey, hey, WE'RE THE ONES ASKING THE QUESTIONS, MORRISSEY!
PV has a tough first 3 games. Will bounce back.
Our defense has really done a nice job so far. We gave up a lot of points to Linn-Mar but most of them were on short fields because of turnovers or other mistakes. They have really showed up when we needed them to so far.
I would say that sounds about right.
In 4A, I like Washington and Bettendorf. Washington has so many weapons. Their defense does well. In 3A, I like West Delaware and Xavier. Of Course, Solon is in the mix.
In 2A, I like North Fayette Valley and Regina, South Winneshiek and West Branch in 1A.
A = Maquoketa Valley
That's a big spread. I liked what I saw out of the CPU defense when I saw them Week 1. I think it's within 10 points myself.
I would pick CPU if Donnie Westendorf wasn't on staff. :)
Wes Wilson does a great job at Maq Valley. Excellect coach and really good guy
Hi guys. Sorry I'm late. Computer issues.
I forgot New Hampton, since it technically isn't Gazette coverage area. My bad. I like dem Chickasaws
I think it's five teams playing for four spots -- NFV, New Hampton, Waukon, CPU and Beckman.
Assumption is always a tough team. They will figure out what works for them soon and be back on track
That's OK. Morrissey is stealing all the attention anyway, JJ
That's a tough one, IndianFan. I'll go with Dyersville Beckman and CPI as the other two 2A District 3 playoff teams.
Good, KJ! Finally someone who knows what the hell they are talking about on this thing.
I think Washington should be a big favorite, but CCA has some potential
I got shamed for asking a question earlier JJ. Going to sit back and answer from here on out!
