Welcome to the Gazette/KCRG's Hawkeye football live blog! We'll have the Twitter feeds fo Marc Morehouse, Scott Dochterman and Mike Hlas, plus photos and poll questions. Grab a screen name and let's chat about the game.
Hey everyone, I'm covering a game at Memorial Stadium for the first time since September 1985 when I did the Florida State-Nebraska game (FSU won 17-13). I'll try to comment on today's game as much as I can and even answer your questions ... just don't make them too hard!
As you can see, we're joined today by our Senior Manager of sports content, Nick Pugliese! He's down in Lincoln as well.
It is a gorgeous day for football ... sunny, temperatures will be in the 30s, wind not much of a factor.
Now, you went and spoiled it Sam. People will think I know something with a fancy title like that!
This place has had 333 consecutive sellouts, but there are a lot of empty seats less than 30 minutes before kickoff!
Trying to find Iowa fans who made the trip here and I see pockets of black and gold in the northwest and southwest upper sections of the stadium.
I meant to say northeast and southwest ... my compass isn't working
Senior Day activities getting underway here
Lot of bowl speculation today --- does the winner get Outback and loser Gator?
And, checking the press box list, I did not see reps from either bowl here but I'll check again in a bit. Perhaps they forgot to RSVP!
Would you take a Hail Mary pass today?
Taylor Martinez, who's not playing today, gets nice ovation from the crowd on Senior Day
Black Friday observation -- the shopping centers and malls were packed last night with early-bird shoppers; so much for the indignation of opening up on Thanksgiving night
See ... you're going to get comments on life as well as football today. Figure I'll let Morehouse and Hlas give you the inside scoop on the game. I'll comment on everything else
Does anyone really think the powers that be will let Iowa and Iowa State NOT play football every year?
And, do we like having Iowa and Nebraska play every year on Black Friday?
I think Iowa wins. I had predicted 17-13 in The Gazette, but actually think there will be more scoring so let's say 24-21
I see people agree on Iowa winning a close game ... at least, so far
I think Marv could still take him today
