Wasn't all that long ago BGM couldn't even field a team.
On the other hand, surprised how fast and how far North Tama has fallen.
KJ brought up IC West as a surprise team earlier. We've had a few questions about them (I'll send them through now). But I agree, after hearing so much about their two fantastic receivers from last year, I thought they'd drop off a bit. How have they been able to stay so good on offense?
Jack Kline only had 4 TDs in 16 TDs. He's slumping, scoring on 25% of his touches compared to 70% week 1.
Good question. First two weeks it doesn't appear to be much for weakness.
I think West can be scored upon. But I don't know who can outscore them.
It might rely in ball control. If Kennedy can help its defense by keeping it off the field that will help a lot.
Yeah, Kennedy's going to have to chew clock.
You think Regina could play with 4A teams, K.J.?
Not sure if Regina could beat those top MVC teams. I think they would certainly be in the 4,5,6 range in that conference. Likely a playoff team in any class.
I think West Branch can hang with Regina. I think DNH and CB St. Albert are capable foes. Someone from AP voting had South Winn #1. Not sure I'd take SW in that matchup though.
If Regina plays its B or B-minus game, it beats anybody in 1A. Just my thought. I know DNH and St. Albert and some of those teams are good, but ...
OK, how about biggest disappointment this early in the season?
Lynnville Sully. I thought they would be solid this season. They are 0-2.
I would say Lisbon at 0-2 is a disappointment. North Tama for sure. In the Metro, probably Linn-Mar. I thought they would be better. Very junior-dominated. Maybe next year they turn the corner.
Lynnville-Sully is kind of like Lisbon. 0-2 vs. bigger-school competition. That's a beat of a district in the top 4 (BGM, Montezuma, Sully and Pekin).
How do you have Lisbon as a disappointment losing two close games to pretty good teams from a bigger class? Would not include them at all.
I thought they'd handle Alburnett ...
I don't think LS's loss are to teams as good as Lisbon's, though, Lindy.
North Tama is a shocker too.
They will be able to fix that with play in that district.
Still think Lisbon walks through that district.
MVC down? That's a tough question, but you could make a case for that I suppose. Don't think CF is as good as they have been. LM/CRW/ICH aren't. So, maybe.
How about CIML teams that have lost to 3A teams? Marshalltown lost to Pella, 38-13, Mason City has lost to Clear Lake and Waverly.
A hunch: Lisbon continuous-clocks at least 6 of their last 7 opponents.
Mason City is terrible, no? Weren't they the anomaly by making the playoffs with 1 win last year?
I would say Wilton would have to play the game of its life and hope Regina is no where near its best
The CIML is REALLY good at the top and pretty darn bad a tthe bottom. MVC's bottom half is better than CIML and the MAC.
Agreed, Lindy's Fan Club. I'd take the MVC over the MAC any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Comparatively, I have PV and Bettendorf a lot lower than most pollsters.
No more talk of BC Moore, PLEASE!
